The Company
AluFen was established to meet the increasing demand for aluminium windows, doors and glazed roofs.

The slim sight lines, durability, low maintenance and security features make aluminium windows, doors and glazed roofs very attractive to clients and architects alike. However, at traditionally twice the price of uPVC fenestration, cost is often a barrier to choice.
​
As a result of AluFen's business model and carefully selected partnership agreements with it's manufacturers - resulting in higher discounts than it's competitors - they are able to pass on considerable savings to their clients without compromising the design, manufacturing quality and customer service.

David founded AluFen whilst working as a Business Development Manager for a fenestration company in Devon.

"It became clear to me that although there was considerable interest in aluminium fenestration, the cost was often prohibitive to many clients. This would frequently compel clients to resort to uPVC products, or make enforced savings in other areas of their projects.
"To me, this was not a satisfactory situation - particularly when you consider the design capabilities and environmental credentials of aluminium fenestration.

PRODUCTS

Why did you choose Customade?
Customade is the parent company of REAL Aluminium, Atlas,Virtuoso Doors, Fineline and Hourglass Seal. They are one of the largest aluminium fenestration fabricators in the UK and have been trading for over 30 years. They fabricate a suite of complementary products - windows, bi-fold doors, sliding doors, entrance doors and glazed roofs - to provide customers with a coordinated design and quality choice for their projects.

Tested to British Standards and with polyamide thermal barrier technology, REAL Aluminium can achieve an 'A' rating for their windows, with options of 'Easy Clean' hinges and optional restrictors to keep children safe but still allowing exit in an emergency.
REAL Aluminium's range of products suit both contemporary and traditional styles of homes, with slimmer frames and low-line gaskets allowing more light into your home. With 1200mm wide bi-fold door frames (compared to uPVC at 750mm) provide a maximum ratio of glass to frame.

All of Customade's products either meet or exceed relevant Building Regulations requirements including, Parts K, L, M and Q.

Are you going to do the 'hard sell' on me?
No. We will never put you under pressure to buy our products. As with the company as a whole, we do things differently from our competitors. We see our role as assisting our clients to make their own decisions by providing clear guidance and information. We may make one follow-up call after sending you your quotation, however that will be to ensure you have all of the information you require as opposed to trying to 'close the sale' there and then. We're ready to move forward, when you're ready to move forward.
Do you have a showroom?
We do not have a showroom per se, however, we have full use of the comprehensive showroom of our manufacturing partner Customade at their premises near Stroud in Gloucestershire. We can meet you there at a mutually convenient day and time to ensure that you will have the whole showroom to yourself. We do however have a range of samples that we can bring to your home and use video conferencing to chat and show designs.
What about delivery?
We will arrange a mutually convenient day for your products to be delivered to site. They will either be delivered free of charge by our manufacturer, or we can arrange for an independent haulier to deliver them sooner and/or if access to your site is likely to be a problem. We will provide you with a quotation for this additional service within our quotation.
What product warranties do you provide?
We provide a 10-year warranty on the majority of our products. In addition, we provide a 25-year powder-coated paint warranty on our windows and doors (10-years on glazed roof frames) and a 10-year surface warranty on our composite doors. Further information on our warranties can be found here.
What happens if there are problems after my products have been installed?
As mentioned above, your products are covered by our comprehensive warranties. In the first instance, you should contact the installer you employed to fit your products and arrange for them to visit. In the unlikely event that the problems are caused by a fault to the products themselves, we will then arrange for an engineer to visit and resolve the issues.
What is the enquiry to delivery process?
The enquiry to delivery process could not be simpler, however we are here to help you all of the way.

If you have a project that you would like us to provide you with a quotation for, the easiest way is to email us at enquiries@alufen.co.uk and attach any relevant drawings. Alternatively, you can provide us with the contact details of your Architect and we will request them on your behalf. Within your email, feel free to describe any features, e.g. colours, glazing, handles, mobility access requirements etc. that you feel would be useful to enable us to provide you with an as accurate quotation as possible. We will look after any issues relating to building regulations. If you do not have any technical drawings that you can send, you can download and print off our general enquiry form, or please feel free to call us to discuss your requirements.

We will usually be able to send you your quotation within three working days.
Once you receive your initial quotation and you decide to proceed 'in principle', a survey will need to be carried out to confirm the precise dimensions of the products you require. This can either by done by yourself (with our assistance if required), your builder, or we may be able to arrange for a Fenestration Surveyor to visit depending on your location. The fee for the Surveyor's service will be payable prior to, or on the day, of their visit. The final design information and dimensions provided to us following the survey will then be cross-referenced with the information contained within your initial quotation and any adjustments (up or down) will be made and a revised quotation issued.

To ensure your new products are on site ready for your builder (if you have one) when he needs them, we are happy to put the products into manufacture on the basis of 'agreed dimensions'. In other words, before the openings are formed, we will agree with your builder what sizes they will be, so that the products can be put in to manufacture and delivered to site ready for when they are required. Thereby preventing any potential delays with your build.

Once you receive your revised quotation you decide to proceed, an order form and invoice will be issued and a fifty percent deposit will be required. From this point, you will have a fourteen day 'cooling off period' within which you can cancel your order and receive a full refund of your deposit. However, if you decide that you would like to receive your products earlier, we have a process whereby you can waive your right to the fourteen day cooling off period. From receipt of your order and clearance of your deposit, we aim to deliver your products within three weeks for 'standard colour' finish items and within 8 weeks for 'special colour' finishes. The balance order payment in the form of cleared funds will be due 5 working days prior to delivery.
AluFen are a supplier of aluminium fenestration, therefore you will need to employ the services of a fenestration installer to fit your products. Your builder (if you have one) may be happy to install the products as part of their work, however if not, we may be able to suggest an installer in your area that we feel will be suitable for the products you are having installed. We will always be available to assist you in selecting the right installer. You will pay the installer directly.

How do I make a payment?
We currently have two ways to make a payment - Online bank transfer and cheque. Online bank transfers should be made to Account Number: 15265170, Sort Code: 23-69-72 and cheques should be made payable to Alufen Ltd and posted to our Regional Office. Please call or email for details.
